It’s Daylight Savings Time!

It’s Daylight Savings Time!

Dealing with any sort of a time change is hard, but with a baby, it can be downright painful. Sleep specialist Kim West, The Sleep Lady, partnered with Pampers, and has provided insights on how to navigate Daylight Savings Time (DST) with minimal effect. I have gotten used to time changes in my travels from North America to Europe, and these are the biggest MUST-DOs for a smooth time change:

Keep Baby Dry:
Thankfully Pampers Baby Dry diapers feature 12-hours of overnight dryness protection to help keep baby dry, and asleep, no matter what the time difference. I stopped giving Livi her midnight diaper change when I started using the Pampers Baby Dry diapers. I was worried about her getting diaper rash after being in the same diaper from 7pm to 7am, but thankfully, she is dry and happy every morning!

Slowly Shift Bedtime:
Shift bedtime back or forward 10 to 15 minutes gradually for the week leading up to DST.

Early Sunrise, Means More Sunshine:
Unfortunately for us, DST in the spring means baby’s new wake up time will be an hour earlier (Boooo less sleep time!!) Open the blinds and expose baby to at least 30 minutes of sunshine to help their body’s adjust to the time change.

Adjust Nap Schedule:
Reschedule naps according to the new time. This will ensure baby isn’t too exhausted before bedtime.

Be Patient:
DST can cause a disruption to sleep patterns that can take up to a week to adjust to. As baby gets comfortable with springing forward, Pampers 12-hour overnight protection helps minimize unnecessary sleep disruption.

Follow the Light:
It’s amazing how baby will respond to sunlight and darkness. This is an easy way to signal to baby if it’s time for sleep or time for play.

Pamper’s Baby Dry

Pampers has come out with its innovative Baby Dry Diaper and we have been trying it for the last couple of weeks. I have to say, we love it! It’s been amazing for Olivia’s sleep as well, as she sleeps 12 hours with no leaks or wake ups from a wet bum.

New Look, Same Protection:

Pampers Baby Dry diapers are now enhanced with the same Extra Absorb Channels that exist on Swaddlers and Cruisers, so now they’re thinner and drier (which makes me a well-rested mama)!

A Thicker Diaper is Not A Better Diaper:

Pampers Baby Dry is now thinner than before, which allows for a more comfortable fit and has extra absorbing channels, to help distribute wetness and lock it away, so babies are even drier than before and can sleep soundly all night. I’m loving the 12 hours Olivia sleeps now!

Researched and Proven:

With Pampers Baby Dry, I feel super confident because Pampers Diapers undergo testing with pediatricians, dermatologists and parents to ensure products meet and exceed the needs of their most important customers – our little babes –  I wouldn’t trust any other product on her!

Stretchy Sides:

I certainly don’t like wearing something tight around my belly when I sleep, and Livi doesn’t either. Pampers Dry has all around stretchy sides for a comfortable fit and a soft like cotton touch.

Wetness Indicator:

LOVE THIS. Available in smaller sizes, it changes colour to let me know when Liv needs a change so I’m not having to open her pyjamas and wake her up each time to check.

New Year’s Savings!

Hey everyone!

I hope you all had an amazing and safe New Year. Now that we are into 2018 (and have spent way too much on Christmas even though we said we would be good this year, HA!), I wanted to share with you some of my major mom saves that I am implementing for the New Year.

I’ve been using Amazon’s Subscribe and Save Program to buy my Pampers Diapers and Wipes, cleaning products, and a ton of other things. Makes life so much easier and stress-free knowing it will come directly to me, AND I am saving money! IT’S SUPER EASY – Basically you can schedule regular deliveries right to your door monthly, and can unlock extra savings on items that you need most. BONUS – shipping is always free!

Just create your subscription and Amazon will take care of the rest – Set it and forget it!

***For all you Pampers mamas, Amazon Subscribe and Save carries the whole line –  Pampers Sensitive Baby Wipes, Pampers Natural Clean Baby Wipes, Pampers Baby Dry, Pampers Swaddlers, Pampers Cruisers, Pampers Easy Ups, Pampers UnderJams, and Pampers Splashers. So whatever you need, Amazon’s Subscribe and Save has got you covered.

For even more savings, parents can earn points through every Pampers product scanned using the Pampers Rewards App – turning diapers into rewards! Redeem your points for great gifts, coupons and rewards from the catalogue for you and your whole family!

When I first had Olivia, I was offered so many hand-me-downs, but I wanted to get everything brand new for her… WHY?! Once you have a child, you realize they grow out of everything after one wear, so accept those hand-me-downs graciously and save yourself some money!

Olivia is almost 11 months old, and guess how many times I have managed to keep shoes on her feet for more than 5 minutes?? ZERO. At this point, I’m lucky if I can even keep a sock on her foot. So all of those adorable little baby shoes I bought are collecting dust in her closet. Save yourself the agony of wrestling those adorable little moccasins onto a flailing foot, only to watch it be kicked across the room 10 seconds later.

I had no idea that libraries offered play classes for babies for free! My sister-in-law told me all about the programs offered and I was amazed that there are so many educational, fun, and FREE things to do with your babe!

I wish I had known this one before spending $100 dollars on our top-of-the-line ear thermometer. Apparently, they aren’t accurate in children under 3, so skip the expensive ear thermometers and stick with a tried and true digital oral or rectal one.

I’m always amazed at the price of jarred baby food in stores. I buy fruit and veggies for Olivia, and puree myself. This will save you lots over time.

Earlier today, I sat looking at the abundance of unused expensive toys that I bought for Olivia. It dawned on me that she is happier playing with the box they came in than she is the actual toy.  A month ago, I made a shaker for her by pouring some rice into one of Jeremy’s old water bottles, and she has not put the thing down since then! There are also great recipes for homemade play-doh and homemade fingerprinting that I will use when she gets a little bit older.

These are a few of the things I have started doing in 2018, but I’m always looking for more! Message me what saving tips you are using for the New Year!

Happy Saving!

Love, Ash.

The Formula Stigma In partnership with Enfamil A+

Since I announced I was pregnant, I have been bombarded with advice. Most of which is about how to feed my baby.  I had every intention of fully breastfeeding Olivia, but unfortunately, after months of trying (and several specialists), I realized that I would need to supplement as Olivia’s needs grew.  I researched a lot about formula, and knew I wanted to give her a formula that was enriched with DHA.  A baby’s brain contains Omega-3 fat and most of that fat is DHA, an important building block of the brain.  By age 3, babies brain growth is 85% complete, so I realized the importance of making sure she was getting the nutrition she needed for optimal health.  Enfamil A+ is enriched with DHA, which made it a clear choice for me.  I use the ready feed bottles (which make my life SO much easier), and I feel happy knowing I’m giving her everything she needs.

So I am currently pumping 3 times a day, and supplementing with formula, and I have noticed a huge difference in Livi.  She is satisfied and happier, which means more love and snuggles for mama 🙂
